More Than Ready sires 90th stakes winner in Maribyrnong Trial

More Than Ready sired the first winner from his latest Australian crop of two year-olds when Cambiaso captured the LR Maribyrnong Trial Stakes at Flemington on Sunday morning.

The Vinery champion claimed his 90th stakes success in the first juvenile race of the season in Victoria.  The Danny O’Brien trained colt arrived with a strong finish to defeat Imprimus and Lamingtons.

Cambiaso (2c More Than Ready – Flying Alpha by Flying Spur) was a $300,000 buy from Torryburn Stud at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  “He’s a beautiful colt and we knew he was pretty special when we broke him in,” O’Brien revealed.  “He’s won pretty much on raw ability and will be a pretty serious two-year-old come the autumn.”

Cambiaso will follow the same path as last year’s Maribyrnong Trial winner Sepoy.  “He will most likely skip the Magic Millions Classic and hopefully be ready for the Blue Diamond,” O’Brien forecast.  “And then possibly Sydney.”

His dam Flying Alpha was a Listed winner of the QTC Just Now Hcp at Eagle Farm but died when carrying a full relation to Cambiaso in only her second season at stud.

Flying Alpha was raced by Torryburn Stud owner John Cornish.  He bred Cambiaso and More Than Ready flyer Brightexpectations who was a G2 winner of last year’s STC Pago Pago Stakes before transferring to Hong Kong.
