A beautifully bred More Than Ready filly topped Day 2 of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale when she sold for $190,000 at the Gold Coast on Monday.
Brisbane trainer Danny Bougoure was the successful bidder. “She has a lot going for her and is a really lovely filly,” Bougoure said. “Others in the family had averaged about $400,000 so she looks great value.”
Bougoure also bought a More Than Ready colt on Sunday for $130,000. His filly from the Willow Park draft is out of the Group winning Bigstone mare Lady Mulan and is a half sister to black type galloper Absent Friends.
Hong Kong based agent Justin Bahen snapped up two of the other big sellers on Day 2 including the Haradasun – Classy Dane filly for $175,000.
“There’s an adjustment taking place in the market and we’ve seen that over recent days,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “The clearance rate of 70% was pleasing in this climate. It’s probably more an indication of vendors meeting the market rather than the market itself.”
The strong international buying bench remained active today with successful buyers from countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Korea, New Zealand and the Philippines.
A number of interstaters were in the thick of the action with buyers from Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, Western Australia and South Australia going head to head with the local Queensland buyers.
