Touchstone Farm stallion parade

WA based Touchstone Farm will parade resident sires Redoute’s Dancer, Flying Pegasus, Vital Equine and Natural Blitz at its annual open day this Sunday, August 2.  Touchstone is situated on the South-West Highway at North Dandalup.

In an innovative move, Touchstone Farm is offering foal shares to approved mares to any stallion standing on the farm this spring.

Nominations Manager Marco Pierluigi feels that not only does this show faith in the Touchstone stallions but also enables broodmare owners to upgrade to a stallion normally out of their price range.

“Even with service fees lower this season it is still a large financial commitment,” said Pierluigi.  “By offering a foal share it gives the opportunity to have broodmare owners commit to a top quality stallion without the huge financial risk.  As the economy improves and market confidence returns to the sale ring anyone with a quality weanling or yearling will be in a good position to maximise their investment.”

Touchstone Farm’s build up to a busy new season took another step forward when Managing Director Glenn Martin paid top price of $52,000 to secure Golden Act from the Peters Investments draft at the recent Perth Magic Millions Winter Sale.

Martin was delighted with the new acquisition and said the Tale of the Cat mare continued the trend of Touchstone Farm buying quality fillies and mares from around Australia.

“We are delighted to have purchased Golden Act who we felt was the standout horse in the sale,” Martin said.  “Initially we were intending to send her straight to Vital Equine this season but we have decided that she will come back into work after her current spell.”

Touchstone Farm recently appointed Dale Brooker as the new stud manager as well as launching a new website at www.touchstonefarm.com.au.

The Touchstone roster and their 2009 fees are: Flying Pegasus (Fusaichi Pegasus) $11,000;   Vital Equine (Danetime) $8,250;   Redoute’s Dancer (Redoute’s Choice) $5,500 and Natural Blitz  (Dehere) $4,400.
