Overtime for Workforce at Shadai Farm

Workforce has been booked solid for his first season at stud in Japan.  The G1 English Derby winner arrived in Japan last month and will leave quarantine for Shadai Farm on Monday.

Shadai Farm placed a AUD 44,000 fee on his services and was rushed with enquiries for the son of King’s Best.

“Shadai own 50% of the shares and the rest were sold out within hours,” spokesman Naohiro Hosoda explained.  “We have a lot of confidence in him and will send our top broodmares to support him.”

Khalid Abdullah sold Workforce to Teruya Yoshida last month following an outstanding career with Sir Michael Stoute that included the English Derby by seven lengths and the Arc de Triomphe.

His former stablemate Harbinger is set to stand his second season at Shadai for a for a AUD 50,000 fee.

Harbinger (Dansili) was a runaway winner of the 2010 King George Stakes at Ascot and his first book included four Japanese 1000 Guineas winners as well as My Katies, dam of the brilliant Japanese colt Admire Moon.

The 2012 fee for Shadai’s leading young sire Deep Impact is unchanged at AUD 125,000.
