David Pfeiffer’s love affair with the Magic Millions continued when Gai’s Choice won the $200,000 Sony Foundation Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
The Warwick Farm based trainer scored the biggest win of his career when Graceful Anna annexed the 2010 Magic Millions Guineas. This time around it was stablemate Gai’s Choice who did the honours.
“Gai’s Choice is a gutsy filly and she tries real hard,” Pfeiffer said. “She’s still learning and I think she’s going to be a genuine racehorse when she gets over more ground.”
Gai’s Choice (3f General Nediym – Faster Pussycat by Flying Spur) was purchased by Bert Vieira from Widden Stud for $81,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions National yearling sale.
The filly is by Magic Millions flag-bearer General Nediym and is the first winner for Faster Pussycat who earned black type when second in a Illawarra Classic at Kembla Grange.
Faster Pussycat is a half sister to the dam of top Melbourne sprinter Eagle Falls. She has a 2yo General Nediym colt named Nkonkoni with Tracey Bartley, a yearling filly by Husson and a filly foaled in October by Northern Meteor.
