Bargain buy Torio’s Quest was labelled a Group 1 horse in the making following his emphatic win in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Trainer Brett Partelle was confident of winning the million-dollar event and the gelding didn’t let him down with a barnstorming run in the straight. Torio’s Quest cruised home by a length from Startsmeup (Danzero) and Top Drop (Snitzel).
“There’s no doubt he’s a Group 1 horse and we will set him for the Doncaster,” Partelle said. “The world is at his feet.”
Torio’s Quest (3g Oratorio – Quest for Pleasure by Quest for Fame) brought up a feature double for Bert Vieira. He also owns Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap winner Gai’s Choice. Vieira has an affinity with the Gold Coast having raced 2010 Magic Millions Cup winner Walking Or Dancing.
Torio’s Quest went into the Guineas in sparkling form following an exciting win in the recent Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes. He was a $15,000 buy from Bowness Stud at the 2009 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling sale and has now won four from five and earned $685,150.
Torio’s Quest is by Coolmore sire Oratorio (Ire) and is one of three winners from three to race from an unraced daughter of G1 Victoria Oaks winner Sandy’s Pleasure.
