Fastnet Rock continues to cut a swathe through the second season sire ranks and he can add another maiden winner to the tally when Piccadilly Moon runs in the Café Gray Plate (Race 3 at 2.00pm) at Hamilton today.
Piccadilly Moon (3f Fastnet Rock – Nursery Suite by Palace Music) can also keep Peter Moody on a roll after his colt Hanks won the G2 AAMI Vase at Moonee Valley last Saturday.
Moody purchased Piccadilly Moon for $70,000 out of the Bellerive Stud draft at the 2008 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale. She is from a winning half-sister to 8 winners including G1 champion Planet Ruler (Kaoru Star), NZ stakes winner St. Therese (Dehere) and the dam of Flemington Listed winner Aroma (Turf Ruler).
Piccadilly Moon wasn’t sighted on debut at Geelong last month but improved her own weight when runner-up to a nice type named Gangland at Echuca a fortnight ago. She reverts to the fairer sex this afternoon but her lack of raceday practise may not count because the older mares engaged are also relatively inexperienced.
