Pluck will resume racing in the G3 Commonwealth Turf Stakes (1700m) at Churchill Downs next Thursday.
The More Than Ready colt has been out of action since April with bruising to his cannon bones. He returned to Graham Motion’s Maryland stables in June.
Pluck (3c More Than Ready – Secret Heart by Fort Wood) won the G3 Summer Stakes at Woodbine before overcoming severe traffic problems in the G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf last November.
He stumbled at the start and then dodged Rough Sailing who fell at the first turn at Churchill Downs. The colt made quick progress and exploded in the straight to win by a length.
Pluck will shuttle to Vinery Australia in 2012 in a deal struck between John Singleton and Team Valor owner Barry Irwin.
Team Valor is double-handed for a defence of the Juvenile Turf this year with Italian stakes winner Lucky Chappy (High Chaparral) and G2 With Anticipation winner State of Play (War Front). Both are trained by Motion.
