Racing Queensland launches bonus scheme

Racing Queensland has announced a bonus scheme to generate more interest in fillies at the March Magic Millions yearling sale after a downturn in prices in recent years.

RQ has joined forces with Magic Millions and Queensland breeders to launch a $125,000 bonus scheme spread over 25 races enabling winning owners to purchase a filly at the Gold Coast sales in March.

The scheme starts on December 14 where winning owners of the Calaway Gal Stakes, Phelan Ready Stakes and Gold Edition Plate will earn an additional $5,000 in the form of a credit, provided the successful horse is QTIS registered and a Magic Millions graduate.

RQ CEO Darren Condon said there were 10 races in December and 15 in January where owners would be able to collect the bonus and reinvest in a filly at the March sales.

“Queensland fillies are shining at the moment,” Condon said.  “You need not look any further than Missy Longstocking or Discreet to demonstrate the value of owning a QTIS registered filly.

“There are 10 races in December and 15 in January where owners can potentially pick up a $5,000 credit bonus, and of those 25 races, 19 carry QTIS added stakes so there is plenty of money to be won over the next two months.”

MM Managing Director Vin Cox said the sales company is delighted to join with RQ and the TBQA to introduce this new initiative.

“Queensland is our home and the efforts of locally bred fillies is phenomenal,” Cox said.  “This new bonus series adds to the great opportunities for buyers of fillies at the Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.”
