Reduced book for Dynaformer

Veteran Kentucky sire Dynaformer will cover a reduced book at Three Chimneys Farm next year.  The son of Roberto is rising 27 and his fertility rate has dropped from 69% to 50% in the last two years.

Dynaformer sired 2010 Melbourne Cup winner Americain and he bobbed up again last Sunday with Irish Oaks winner Blue Bunting.

“We’ll give him another shot next year,” Three Chimneys president Case Clay said.  “He’s in excellent health – he’s as mean as he’s ever been and still regularly kicks bars out of his stall.”

Dynaformer stands a massive 17 hands and commands a fee of $150,000.  “I’m guessing his fertility will drop again next year but the mares booked to him will be boarded on the farm so they can be bred at an optimum time,” Clay added.  “We will limit his book to 40.”

Dynaformer was a G2 winner of the Jersey Derby during his racing days when trained by D. Wayne Lukas.  He defied the odds early on in his stud career rising off an initial fee of $5,000.

Blue Bunting is the latest of his 20 Group 1 winners.  Besides the Melbourne Cup winner, the list also includes Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro and European standouts Rainbow View, White Moonstone and Lucarno.
