Regal Ransom to stand at Darley Kentucky

Darley has retired G2 winner Regal Ransom and he will join its Jonabell Farm roster in 2012.

Regal Ransom (5h Distorted Humor – Kelli’s Ransom by Regal Ransom) defeated Blame in the G3 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs and he also captured the G2 UAE Derby.  Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, he retires with career earnings of $1.89 million.

“Regal Ransom displayed tremendous ability from the outset,” Darley spokesman Charlie Boden said.  “He’s a Group winner on two continents with an impressive pedigree and great looks to match.  We are very excited about offering him to breeders in 2012.”

Bred in Kentucky by Diamond A Racing Corporation, Regal Ransom was a $675,000 buy at the Fasig-Tipton 2YO Florida Sale.  He is a half-brother to triple G1 winner Devil May Care.

Drosselmeyer is another son of Distorted Humor retiring to stud in 2012.  Earlier this week, WinStar Farm announced its G1 Belmont Stakes winner will stand in New York at Keane Stud.
