Rewarding result on Boxing Day

Peter Moody will try and reprise Reward For Effort’s G1 Blue Diamond Stakes victory after his unbeaten colt Hell Of An Effort won at Caulfield on Boxing Day.

Moody trained Reward For Effort and has supported the 2009 Blue Diamond winner since he retired to Chatswood Stud.  “The Reward for Efforts seem pretty bomb-proof,” he said.  “They’re adaptable and genuine – just like their old man.”

Hell Of An Effort (2c Reward For Effort – Ashtaroth by Ashkalani) had won on debut at Geelong and he adopted similar front-running tactics to claim the Joe Brown Plate (1100m) on Saturday.

“We haven’t done a lot with him since Geelong but he’s made natural improvement and put them to the sword today,” Moody added.  “This bloke has a few of his father’s attributes and we will give him a chance in the Blue Diamond Preview or Prelude.”

Reward For Effort (Exceed And Excel) launched his stud career winning the Victorian freshman title for Chatswood in 2014-15 and his second crop began with a bang when Dalradian won the RL Inglis Banner (1000m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day.

Hell Of An Effort was bred by Joe Schembri and is owned by a Wylie Dalziel Roy Higgins Racing syndicate.  His dam Ashtaroth won four sprints in Melbourne and she is related to 2004 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Alinghi.
