Riverdene Stud is back in the stallion business after a two-year hiatus. Owner Dr Kevin Pendergast has announced Strada will be based at his Wagga nursery in 2012.
Strada is a superbly bred son of champion sire of sires Danehill from G1 STC Coolmore Classic winner Shindig. He was initially based at Widden Stud and, from his first two crops, has sired 30 winners of 46 races at a 40% strike-rate.
Before dispersing its stallions in 2009, Riverdene’s roster included Bon Hoffa (Belong To Me), Seidnazar (Rory’s Jester), Enemy Of Average (Fusaichi Pegasus), Marwina (Marscay), Zariz (Mukaddamah) and Half Hennessy (Hennessy).
“Strada is a very attractive new alternative for Riverdene Stud’s existing client base; we should be able to give him a very solid book,” Pendergast said. “The property has a lot of boarding mares owned by keen breeders in the region that won’t have previously considered Strada due to the distances involved.”
Pendergast has priced Strada at a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee.
