Rogano will join the burgeoning Redoute’s Choice sireline when he retires to Oakland Park later this year.
Rogano (5h Redoute’s Choice – Singles Bar by Rory’s Jester) is a younger brother to Arrowfield stallion Not A Single Doubt and he initially raced in Arrowfield’s colours after failing to reach an $800,000 reserve at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Under the guidance of trainer Paul Messara, he was a brilliant winner on debut at Canterbury as a late season two year-olds in June 2009. Given a 36 week spell, he made it two-from-two with another all-the-way victory at Canterbury in March 2010.
After a fading fifth in the Listed STC Darby Munro Stakes at Rosehill, Rogano was sidelined for a further 12 months before returning for another first-up victory at Hawkesbury in April 2011.
Oakland Park owner Neville Duncan acted on Not A Single Doubt’s very promising start at stud with a successful offer to relocate the five year-old stallion to Western Australia. His south-west property is situated between Busselton and Margaret River and is home to Ihtiram (Royal Academy) and Viscount (Quest For Fame).
Ihtiram found fame as the sire of champion mare Miss Andretti. She emerged from Perth to win on the international stage at Flemington and Royal Ascot.
Viscount’s world-class sprinter Rocket Man has just been named Singapore’s Horse of the Year for 2011. It was an overwhelming verdict after his G1 victories in the Golden Shaheen and KrisFlyer International Sprint.
All-time great Northerly is also in retirement at Oakland Park. Now a 15 year-old, he was bred and raced by Duncan in partnership with Fred Kersley to a total of 18 black-type victories topped by two Cox Plates and two Australian Cups. And throw in a Caulfield Cup when he beat Fields Of Omagh and Republic Lass in 2002.
The Regano announcement came in advance of another very successful Perth Magic Millions for Oakland Park.
Duncan topped the sale with a Snitzel – Diamonds colt that made $240,000. And he filled out the Top 12 with a Lonhro – Hi on Love colt ($140K), O’Reilly – Jestatune filly ($140K) and Snitzel – Perpendicular gelding ($135K).
Rogano will stand for a $5,500 fee first-up in 2012. He is from the immediate family of Golden Slipper winner Forensics (Flying Spur) and multiple Group 1 winner and top stallion Snippets (Lunchtime).
By Redoute’s Choice from Singles Bar, he is the ninth foal of the dam and he’s a similar type to Not A Single Doubt who was Champion First Season Sire for winners in 2008-09.
