Promising King Of Prussia stayer Frozen Rope will make his city debut in the $70,000 Tooheys New Hcp (1550m) at Canterbury on Saturday.

Frozen Rope (4g King Of Prussia – Timor Flyer by Azzaam) has won three of his six starts and returned from a spell to score by five lengths at Taree on December 5.
 
“He should get up to 2400m,” trainer Adam Duggan predicted.  “His dam won over 2000m and she is by Azzaam who won a Sydney Cup.  And, looking at him,  you would think he’s a raw-boned New Zealander.”
 
Frozen Rope was bred and reared at Greta West Stud before making his way to Duggan’s Gosford stables on the NSW Central Coast.  “I had mentioned him to a  group of golfing mates while we were playing a pro-am tournament,” Duggan recallled.  “Even though he’s on lease, I told the boys he would need time to grow into that big frame.”

The lightly-raced gelding won his maiden by five lengths at Port Macquarie in June and then doubled up at Wyong before going out for a spell.

Duggan said the conditions of Saturday’s race were attractive for a horse on the way through the grades.   “I wouldn’t normally bring a horse like him to town so soon,” he said.  “I pride myself on placing my horses in the right races but Saturday’s event is too good an opportunity to pass up.”

His sire King Of Prussia stands at Greta West for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee.  He has sired 102 winners of 275 races at a 59% strike-rate.
