Host (Chi) is coming good with a vengeance this season. The latest winner for Swettenham Stud’s up-and-coming sire arrived when Seen A Host broke his maiden at Kilmore on Tuesday.
Seen A Host (3g Host – Bian Seen by Bianconi) skipped away in the straight to land the Celebrate Xmas @ KRC Maiden (1450m) with something in hand. He joins recent Host winners like Philippi, Flying Hostess and Hosting.
Part-owner and breeder Hayden Kelly has been a Host fan ever since the Kentucky Group 1winner arrived at Swettenham. “His colt Philippi looked a real good prospect at Moonee Valley last Saturday,” Kelly said. “I know Mick (Kent) thinks he will be even better in the autumn and so will ours.”
Seen A Host is first foal from Sandown winner Bian Seen and the mare foaled another Host colt at Swettenham on August 31.
Tatura trainer Gary Sherer was more than happy with the way Seen A Host has been progressing. “He’s improving with every run and what he does this prep is a bonus,” Sherer predicted. “He’s still learning and I really liked the way he hit the line.”
Winning jockey Craig Newitt concurred with those comments. “There’s plenty of upside to this horse,” he said before weighing in. “He did that on raw ability alone.”
Swettenham Stud owner Adam Sangster is about to close off the $5,000 (inc gst) early-bird service fee for Host before it increases to $7,500 (inc gst). Broodmare owners can contact Sangster for further details on 0418 543 633 or nominations manager Chris Belli on 0417 514 552.
