Arrowfield Stud freshman Snitzel capped a superb season when One More Grand caused an $81 boilover in The Rosebud Inglis Bonus (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

One More Grand (2c Snitzel – Lambada Lady by Seattle Slew) kept kicking in front while several of the more fancied runners were jostling for room in the straight.  The Queanbeyan based colt cost trainer Nveille Layt $35,000 at the 2009 Scone Inglis yearling sale when offered by Arrowfield associate Bellerive Stud.

Part-owner Glenn Williams remembered the reason for One More Grand’s name when Tommy Berry brought The Rosebud winner back to scale.  “The bidding had already gone past our budget and then someone went to $34,000,” Williams recalled.  “I said to Neville we can go one more grand.”

The Snitzel colt scooped the pool in The Inglis Rosebud, picking up a $100,000 Inglis Race Series bonus, in addition to the $42,000 first prize and $20,000 BOBS Bonus.  It was his third win in 10 starts after previous victories at Queanbeyan and Rosehill on either side of the Xmas – New Year break.

Snitzel finished second to fellow Redoute’s Choice freshman Stratum in the Australian first-season sires’ premiership.  He sired 10 winners of 17 races with G2 STC Silver Slipper winner Chance Bye his divisional leader with $520,000 in earnings.

The Arrowfield freshman has also sired three Japanese juvenile winners so far this year.  He reverse shuttled Shadai Farm for the 2007 northern hemisphere breeding season.  Snitzel stands at Arrowfield in 2010 at a fee of $27,500 (inc. gst).

One More Grand is a half-brother to winners by Miswaki, Sunday Silence, Jade Robbery, Tanino Gimlet and War Emblem.  Their dam Lambada Lady was imported to Australian in August 2005 but she died a week after foaling The Rosebud winner.

Second dam BORN A LADY (Tentam) was a stakes winning half-sister to legendary sire NORTHERN DANCER.

One More Grand joins the $770,000 Inglis Scone Guineas winner Star Of Octagonal as a Scone graduate to pick up big prizes as part of the $2.6 million Race Series in 2009-10.

Scone graduates have enjoyed a bumper year to date with G1 winners Hot Danish and Small Minds leading the way.  The next opportunity for 2009 graduates to win a race series bonus comes up at Seymour on August 29.
