Shadai Farm sire Fine Grain is the latest Japanese stallion to move digs to France.
The son of former Arrowfield shutter Fuji Kiseki will join fellow Japanese expats Great Journey (Sunday Silence), Samson Happy (Sunday Silence) and Air Eminem (Danehill) at Haras de Lonray in Normandy.
Fine Grain (8h Fuji Kiseki – Mill Grain by Polish Precedent) was a quality homebred for Shadai Farm winning the G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (1200m) and finishing a close third in the G1 Mile Championship.
His sire Fuji Kiseki shuttled to Australia until 2002 and the last of his five Arrowfield crops generated top earner Pinnacles. He has banked $762,770 and trainer Rick Hore-Lacy will be counting on more when the rising eight year-old returns for a late-season campaign.
Fuji Kiseki has sired 155 winners in Australia & NZ at a sky-high 75% strike rate. Fine Grain’s dam Mill Grain, a triple winner in Japan, is a sister to Irish and Yorkshire Oaks winner Pure Grain.
A fee for Fine Grain has yet to be announced.
Haras de Lonray also stood G1 Sunday Silence stallion Deep Impact. He sired G1 filly Divine Light to win the 2007 Cheveley Park Stakes and 2008 English 1000 Guineas back at Newmarket . She was also runner-up to Paco Boy in the 2008 Prix de Foret.
Her heroics at three came shortly after Haras de Lonray sold Deep Impact to the Turkish National Stud.
