There is no hotter trainer in the country at the moment than Ballarat local Darren Weir. Although he may not have the numbers of some of the bigger stables, he does have a narrow lead atop of the National trainers’ premiership table.
On Sunday he will make the 100km trek from his Ballarat base to Donald and looks a good chance to take out the local Cup (Race 6 at 4.12pm AEDT).
Sooze (6m Archway – Celestial Sooze by Rancho Ruler), a last start winner of the St Arnaud Cup, was a $36,000 purchase from the 2004 Adelaide Magic Millions. She is one of two winners for Celestial Sooze, who is a winning half sister to dual G1 winner Roman Arch (Archway).
