Anthony Cummings scratched Sorriso from a 2025m event at Cranbourne last weekend to be reserved for the Jambro Hcp (Race 7 at 4.28pm AEDT) at Kyneton this Sunday. It’s a similar grade and the shorter trip (1875m) should suit second up.
Sorriso (5g Galileo – Lycra by Tights) faced the starter for three educational hit-outs in August – September and was then given a 14 week break before resuming for his first staying test at Bairnsdale on December 21.
Sorriso settled right behind front-runner Jerry Needs A Name and then overhauled the leader close to home. He is by Coolmore shuttler Galileo from Champion Kiwi filly Lycra who was a Group 1 winner of the Ellerslie and Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes.
Cummings purchased Sorriso for $190,000 from the Yallambee Stud draft at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He is a half-brother to G3 AJC Craven Plate winner The Man (Dehere).
