Zenyatta making time at Hollywood Park

Zenyatta continues to work at Hollywood Park raising speculation the unbeaten mare will stay in training.  Owner Jerry Moss announced she would be retired after winning the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on November 7 but she was clocked for the third time last week.

Dottie Ingordo, wife of trainer John Shirreffs and racing manager for Moss, avoided an unequivocal answer when asked whether the Street Cry mare would run again or move to a Kentucky breeding barn.

“It’s very cold in Kentucky,” Ingordo said.  “We sent one horse there and it got sick.”

Zenyatta (Street Cry) and Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d’Oro) lead an all-star cast of finalists for the 2009 USA Eclipse Awards.  Winners in all categories will be announced on January 18 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in California.

Rachel Alexandra continued her routine of jogging a mile and then galloping a mile at Fair Grounds in New Orleans last week.  Trainer Steve Asmussen has not decided on a first-up start for the filly who was last seen winning the G1 Woodward Stakes on September 5.
