Arrowfield shuttler Starcraft can sire his first Australia winner when Star Witness contests the Tatts Group Plate (1000m) at Moonee Valley (Race 1 at 12.50pm AEDT).

Starcraft has already sired stakes winning filly Don’t Tell Mary in England and his first two southern hemisphere starters Starlin and Starstreamed were placed in Brisbane earlier this month.

Star Witness (2c Starcraft-Leone Chiara by Lion Hunter) was a $150,000 purchase for trainer Danny O’Brien at this year’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.  He is the first foal for the G3 winning Leone Chiara who is a sister to multiple G2 winner Chinchilla Rose and Ascot Vale Stakes (G2) hero Ferocity.  The latter stands at Oaklands Stud and also has his first crop hitting the racetrack this season.
