Steady figures for Texas 2yo Sale

A Valid Expectations colt topped the Fasig-Tipton Texas 2yo Sale on Tuesday when purchased for $100,000 by Jerry Durant.

The colt is from Excellent Review (Mr. Greeley) and is related to Kentucky Derby runner-up Closing Argument (Successful Appeal).  The sale topper, who previously sold for $40,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearling Sale, breezed 200m in 10s prior to the auction.

A Ruler’s Court half-brother to stakes winner Classy Deelites (Afternoon Deelites) was next best at $90,000.  His dam Classy Aly (Sky Classic) is from the immediate family of G1 winners Thirty Six Red (Slew o’ Gold) and Corrazona (El Gran Senor).  He previously sold for $34,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearling Sale.

The Fasig-Tipton Texas 2yo Sale grossed $2.37 million and the average was steady at $17,064 compared to 2009.
