Alfred Nobel youngster Swedish Memories has gone right on with the job at Ascot after a very impressive debut on Super Saturday.
The Simon Miller trained gelding ran second to Spangled Impact in the Crystal Slipper Stakes and started an odds-on favourite second-up in the Sell Lease Property 2YO Plate (1100m). He jumped straight to the front and held off a determined challenge from Trademark (Trade Fair) to score by a length.
“He had to work from a bad barrier in the Crystal Slipper and it was a super run,” stable spokesman Kyle Nowland said. “He looked hard to beat on paper today and put them away even though he was still a bit green in the straight.
“He’s got a brain and has shown us a lot at home. He will probably have a freshen-up now and come back for the Magic Millions.”
Swedish Memories (2g Alfred Nobel – Magical Memories by Bletchley Park) is a half-brother to Perth stakes performer Black magic Miss (Blackfriars) and was bred and sold by Dawson Stud for $80,000 at the 2015 Perth Magic Millions.
It’s the family of Perth’s celebrated grey gazelles Jungle Dawn and Jungle Mist.
Alfred Nobel (Danehill Dancer) stands at Lynward Park in Bullsbrook for a $4,950 (inc gst) fee. He has 14 yearlings entered for the 2016 Perth Magic Millions on February 15 and 16 including two colts and a filly from Dawson Stud.
