The Cobbla kick-starts winning run by Danehill Express

The Cobbla began a winning run for Danehill Express when he descended on the leading division in the Westspeed 3YO Hcp (1200m) at Belmont last Wednesday.

The three year-old gelding was racing first-up since a midfield finish on debut at Bunbury in March to overhaul classy filly Loopy’s Ladies close to home.  “He’s still a bit green but gets to the line,” trainer Stephen Miller said.  “He will get better and should relax with more racing up to a mile.”

The Cobbla (3g Danehill Express – Rivotion by Rivotious) is a half-brother to Vain Crusader (G2 WA Guineas) and was a $40,000 buy at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions from Queenslea Park acting as agent for breeder Lex Piper.

He is raced by a syndicate that includes Tony Buhagiar and Neil Pinner who also raced G1 Robert Sangster Stakes winning mare Ellicorsam (Fimiston) with Miller’s wife Sharon.

Danehill Express continued the winning run with Blustery (Northam) on Thursday, Bicol Express (Carnarvon) on Saturday and Ribotique (Kalgoorlie) on Sunday.

The Mungrup Stud stallion has moved into second spot (behind Blackfriars) on the WA sires’ premiership with the winners of 13 races and $295,397 this season.  He is standing for a $4,400 (inc gst) this season.
