Tremendous Goffs graduate by Equiano

A first crop foal by Swettenham Stud shuttler Equiano was knocked down for 90,000 euros (AUD 111,120) at the Goffs November Sale in Co. Kildare on Thursday.

That represents a tremendous mark-up on his northern service fee at Newsells Park which is the equivalent of 9,350 euros.

The news out of Goffs confirmed the groundswell of support that has seen Equiano serve full books in his first two seasons in England.  “I’m a big fan of Equiano and couldn’t be happier with our three foals,” Tweenhills Farm owner-manager David Redvers said.  “They are very attractive, well-made foals with great top-lines and good attitudes.”

Equiano’s top seller at Goffs is from Mail The Desert (Desert Prince), a Group 1 winner of the 2002 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.  She has already thrown two winners by Pivotal.  The colt was purchased by Irish agent Liam Norris who has a Group 1 record of his own with Swettenham

Norris purchased Swettenham bred filly Dancing Rain at the 2009 Goffs Orby Sale and she went on to a Group 1 triumph in the 2011 English Oaks.

The Goffs result was just a taste of what’s to come for Equiano at the Tattersalls December Sale which starts next Wednesday.  Swettenham owner Adam Sangster is in Newmarket for the world-renowned auction and Equiano leads the way among first-season sires with 31 foals catalogued.

Equiano (Fr) is currently serving his second southern book at Swettenham for a $16,500 (inc gst) service fee.
