Two Tone too good at Ascot

Westbury Park studmaster Phil Ibbotson bred his second city winner in a week with Two Tone Blonde in the The Abn’zing Race (1400m) on Saturday.

Ibbotson and former Westbury Park stallion Fath were also in the frame at Ascot last Wednesday with up-and-coming mare Fancy Feet.

Fath (Danzig) initially stood at Rathasker Stud in Ireland where his winners arrived at a 60% strike-rate.  He covered four books in Western Australia before succumbing to a snake bite in January 2012.

Two Tone Blonde (3f Fath – Kylie Nadine by Marooned) grabbed a last-stride victory over tearaway leader Mountain Haze (Bianconi) on Saturday.  The grey filly made up six lengths in the straight to score by a head.

“She’s a tough little unit,” trainer Vaughn Sigley said.  “She enjoyed the fast pace and so did I.

“I kept willing them to go harder,” he added.  “She was unlucky last time but Shaun (Meeres) kept her out of trouble today.”

Two Tone Blonde descends from a Heytesbury Stud family going back to foundation mare Silver Smile (Silver Knight).  Her 2yo is a colt by He’s A Decoy named Breathtaking View.
