Widden farewells No Finer

Kaoru Star mare No Finer was euthanased at Widden Stud on Friday morning aged 31.  The grand old producer had been pensioned in 2005.

No Finer’s influence will continue as she was the dam of champion New Zealand sire and Group I VRC Australian Guineas winner Pins.

“She was retired from stud five years ago and has been a nanny mare here ever since,” Widden’s Antony Thompson said.  “She was very good with the weanlings and although she was a tough mare who didn’t like being fussed over, she was a great favourite with the staff.”

No Finer was bred by Lionel Israel at the old Segenhoe Stud and was one of the last foals left by his star broodmare Humour.
She was a sister to G1 winners Marceau, Zasu and Runyon as well as G2 winner Joy Love,

No Finer produced seven winners including four stakes winners – Pins, Nips, Gamesman and Rothko.
